Privacy Policy

The policy of Decision Partners LLC is to respect the privacy of all website visitors to the extent permitted by law. This online privacy statement is intended to inform you of the ways in which this website collects information, the uses to which that information will be put, and the ways in which we protect any information you choose to provide us.

Information Provided by You to Decision Partners

Decision Partners' services provided to individuals are entirely commerce-free. We do not sell advertising, accept paid referrals, or receive compensation of any kind based on user activity. Some Decision Partners websites allow the sponsoring organization to display links to their own products and services based on the content a user is viewing - for example, a link to a credit union's auto financing page when a user is using an auto loan calculator. These links are configured solely by the sponsoring organization, are not paid referrals to Decision Partners, and are limited to the organization providing the platform to its own members.

Decision Partners never uses personal information for any purpose other than providing the best possible financial education. Our sole source of revenue is licensing our financial education platform to organizations wishing to provide our service to their members, employees, or customers.

When using this website, you may choose to provide us with information to help us serve your needs. For example, you may email us to request information or a password reset link. Any personally identifiable information you send us will be used only for the purpose indicated. Requests for information will be directed to the appropriate staff member for response. Records associated with your request may be recorded to help us maintain high levels of customer service and to better respond to similar requests in the future.

We will not sell, exchange, or otherwise distribute your personally identifiable information without your consent, except to the extent required by law. Users can update their personal information by clicking the "My Account" or "Preferences" page on each site.

Information We Collect

To access personalized resources, users must register by providing their first name, last name, email address, and a user-selected password. This information is stored in an encrypted database.

As you use the platform, we also collect system-generated data to support your learning experience, including:

  • Course progress and completion status.
  • Quiz and assessment results.
  • Login dates and times.
  • Calculator inputs and results.
  • Content saved or bookmarked by you.

In addition, some Decision Partners websites offer optional personal finance tools, including budget planning, financial goal tracking, and financial checklists. Use of these tools is entirely voluntary. If you choose to use them, the following additional information may be stored in your account if you choose to add it:

  • Budget Information - Monthly budget targets and spending categories you enter manually.
  • Checklists and To-Do Items - Financial action steps you save within the platform.
  • Financial Goals - Goals and milestones you set within the platform.
  • Survey Responses - Answers to any financial wellness surveys you complete.
  • Transaction Data - If you choose to import checking, savings or credit card account files provided by your financial institution (such as QFX, OFX, CSV files) to populate your budget tracking figures, that file is processed entirely within your browser and is never transmitted to or stored on Decision Partners' servers. Only the transaction data you explicitly review and approve for saving is stored.

You can delete any content you entered into the website at any time, including one-click deletion of all budget and budget tracking data. Note that the saving of budget information and related data can be disabled by the sponsoring organization, so all users will not see all options.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your account and associated data are retained for as long as your sponsoring organization remains a customer of Decision Partners, or until your account is deleted - whichever comes first. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@decisionpartners.org.

In the event that your sponsoring organization discontinues its relationship with Decision Partners, all associated user data is deleted from our servers and backup systems within 45 days. A certificate of data deletion is available to sponsoring organizations upon request.

User Data Available to Program Administrators

Information available to program administrators for each user associated with their institution is limited to what would be available in a typical "in the classroom" course. Specific information shared is limited to:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (if collection is enabled by the sponsoring organization)
  • Date of registration
  • Date of last login and total number of logins
  • Percentage progress to completion for each course
  • Courses taken
  • Course grades excluding questions re-taken
  • Final course grades
  • Missed quiz questions, including which answer was selected
  • Course confirmation codes
  • Course completion dates
  • Whether or not certain calculators and assessments have been completed, including the completion date
  • Whether or not administrator messages have been read, including the date and time when messages are read (if messaging is enabled by the sponsoring organization and program administrator)

Note that the Decision Partners platform uses role-based administration, meaning that user data is available only to authorized administrators associated with your sponsoring organization. Typically, administrators only have access to the information of users in programs they manage or to which they have been explicitly granted "view only" access.

If you choose to share course completion certificates or codes with non-administrators (such as a teacher or family member) to verify course participation or on social media, information available to non-administrators includes:

  • Name
  • Course title
  • Final grade
  • Course completion date
  • Course completion code

Administrators do not have access to any optional data described above (budgets, goals, transactions, checklists) unless a user explicitly opts in to sharing that information with a single administrator through the online collaboration feature described below.

Financial Counseling Via Online Collaboration

Some Decision Partners websites allow organizations to enable users to opt in to sharing select personal information from the site with a single, trusted program administrator. This feature is intended to help organizations provide personalized financial counseling services to site users. Sharing is always optional and is limited to programs in which the feature is enabled (a program is a group of users managed by a specific administrator at your sponsoring organization). Collaboration is disabled by default. If the collaboration option is available to users in a specific program, they can opt in or out at any time via their account preferences.

If online collaboration is enabled, the program administrator has access to the member's account solely for training and education purposes and only to information already collected and displayed within the platform, which may include budget information, financial goals, survey answers, checklists, and saved content. Program administrators do not have access to user passwords or system credentials and cannot require users to share information in order to access the Decision Partners platform.

When this option is enabled, users see an alert on their program registration page that explains how online collaboration works and explains that participation is optional. Users can opt out at any time by visiting their account preferences.

Use of Service Providers

Decision Partners uses trusted third-party service providers to host systems, deliver communications, and maintain the security and performance of our services. These providers are permitted to process information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect user information. Our primary service providers include:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) - All application and database servers are hosted within the AWS cloud environment. AWS provides physical security, infrastructure redundancy, and compliance certifications for our production environment.
  • Wistia, Inc. - Video hosting and delivery for educational content. No personally identifiable information is provided by Decision Partners to this vendor. This vendor may set cookies or collect usage data independently in accordance with their own privacy policy.
  • CloudFlare, Inc. - Hosting of videos uploaded by credit union administrators. No personally identifiable information is provided by Decision Partners to this vendor. This vendor may set cookies or collect usage data independently in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Decision Partners does not use external artificial intelligence services to process, analyze, or store personally identifiable user data.

Your Privacy Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at privacy@decisionpartners.org. We will respond to such requests in accordance with applicable law.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

The California Consumer Privacy Act provides California residents with the following additional rights.

Right to Know. You have the right to know and see what data we have collected about you over the past twelve (12) months, including the categories of personal information collected, the sources from which it was collected, the business purpose for collecting it, any third parties with whom it has been shared, and the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.

Right to Delete. You have the right to request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law (such as information necessary to complete a transaction, detect security incidents, or comply with legal obligations).

We do not sell your personal information.

Right to Non-Discrimination. You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of your California privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@decisionpartners.org. Please include your full name and the email address associated with your Decision Partners account.

"Do Not Track" Browser Policy

Decision Partners does not use tracking technology to monitor platform users across external websites, and does not use advertising or analytics tracking of any kind on its own behalf.

Some sponsoring organizations choose to enable their own analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) within their instance of the platform to measure member engagement. When enabled, these tools are governed by the sponsoring organization's privacy practices and applicable browser privacy controls. Decision Partners does not have access to or control over data collected by sponsoring organizations through their own analytics tools. Please see "Cookies" below for more information on how our system tracks active sessions.

Network Traffic Logs and Site Security

In order to ensure network security and consistent service for all users, Decision Partners employs software programs to monitor network traffic, identify unauthorized access, detect computer viruses and other software that might damage Company computers or the network, and monitor and tune the performance of Decision Partners' network. Information from these activities is used solely to maintain the security and performance of our networks and computer systems. Personally identifiable information from these activities is not released to external parties without your consent unless required by law.

Aggregate Information

Decision Partners' websites routinely collect and store information from online visitors to help manage those sites and improve service. This information includes the pages visited on the site, the date and time of the visit, the Internet address of the referring site, the IP address from which the access occurred, and the browser used. Decision Partners makes no attempt to identify individual visitors from this information.

Decision Partners may share certain aggregate data collected from the use of our platform, such as course completion rates, test results, and survey data, with third parties. In such cases, all individually identifiable information is removed. Further, Decision Partners ensures that aggregate survey data is only shared after a sufficient number of users have participated, preventing individual responses from being inferred from small sample sizes.

Cookies

Cookies are pieces of information stored by your web browser on behalf of a website and returned to the website on request. This site uses cookies to store data about your current session from one web page to the next. Cookies remain on your computer for the duration of your visit and are deleted when you log out or close your browser. We do not use cookies to track your movement across different websites, nor do we exchange cookies with other entities.

If you prefer not to receive cookies, you may turn them off in your browser or set your browser to ask you before accepting a new cookie. Any site page that requires user authentication will not function if cookies are turned off.

External Internet Links

Decision Partners' websites may provide links to other websites or resources we believe would be helpful for user education (for example, to an IRS page for specific information related to taxes that is too detailed for a generalized financial education service). We do not control these sites or resources, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their availability, content, or service delivery. External sites are not bound by Decision Partners' online privacy policy and may have their own policies or none at all. You can tell you are leaving a Decision Partners website by noting the URL of the destination site.

We do not participate in affiliate sales, paid links, or any other commercial arrangements with external sites.

Commitment to Children's Privacy

Decision Partners' platform is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use this service. Sponsoring organizations are responsible for ensuring that access to Decision Partners' platform is restricted to users who meet this age requirement.

Decision Partners offers two curricula - one for teens aged 13-17 and another for adults. When a user is enrolled in the teen curriculum, the following features are disabled: site-based messaging, online collaboration, and external links added by the sponsoring organization.
